Hanseatic city of Stralsund,

is a city. It lies on the Strelasund, a strait in the Baltic Sea. The old town of Stralsund, becomes the focal point for many tourists, with lots of renovated town houses and museums. The latest is the Oceanarium, which was completed in 2008. There are over 500 listed buildings in the Old Town alone. In June 2002 the old town of Stralsund and Wismar, which was taken up by the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Stralsund is also called the gateway to the island of Ruegen.

Stralsund Icebreaker is fighting against ice

On 08.01.10 Stralsund in the fight against the ice on the Strelasund and boundary waters of the Baltic Sea is now the icebreaker Arkona Used to indemnify the fairway.
